Heres To New Beginnings

WOW! It’s 2010, but put the parties and resolutions on hold for a second; what does this New Year really mean? Sure, it’s a new decade, but a new decade means much more than Webster definition, trust me! In ten years 2010 will be classified, reviewed by the music, the movies, the technology, and most importantly the fashion. Have you ever noticed that when you look back on the past it all revolves around fashion?

1920s: the decade of flappers; women rebelled the prohibition with clothes. Skirts were cropped to the knee, waistlines dropped to the hips, and masculine was the new feminine with short bobs, and flat chests.

1950s: known for the infamous poodle skirts, saddle shoes, fluffed out petticoats, crinolines, and for the more daring; peddle pushers and blouses. Marilyn Monroe; a fashion icon of the fifties, a woman who will never go out of style.

1980s: “We are living in a material world, and I am a material girl.” Everything is big, the hair, the sweaters, the bold choices in color & if it wasn’t big it was made of spandex. (Did you know leggings were the most surprising eighties item to make a comeback along with leg-warmers & acid wash jeans?)

Coco Chanel said “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” So with a new year, and a new decade ahead of us take some risks, & dare to be different. Lets make 2000s' double digits a time to embrace and celebrate style with a whole new perspective.
